A beautiful protected green area provided the scene for this new apartment building with six units. The natural restrictions of the plot gave it a very angular shape which we decided to emphasise in the outline of the outer facade. The building is two stories high and each story varies in rhythm, only to join again in each of the four corners of the block. The sober and ritmical volume is paved with grey/green bricks, while accentuating all the deviations like windows, doors, balconies, with porphyre, a warm natural stone that was burned as finishing, giving it an earthly, tactile vibe. A reference also to the beautiful natural surroundings.
The lay-out of the six units is built up so that they all have a view over the south facing backyard, with a horizon stretching far and wide, the main feature of this project. We wanted to build something functional and modest that was very outward facing, bringing in and blending in with nature. In the materials and shapes we gave room for a dialectical play between natural and technical, organic and angular. The building is E20 certified, adding to the comfort of both the residents and nature surrounding them.
